The Diagnostic Accreditation Program (DAP) is the regulatory accreditation body for diagnostic imaging services in BC. As part of the ’s continuous quality improvement efforts, the DAP standards are systematically updated to:
- reflect current practice
- incorporate best-available scientific evidence
- involve subject matter experts
The goal of the standards is to deliver safety and quality requirements.
The diagnostic imaging accreditation standards were recently revised after completing a comprehensive review of the nuclear medicine and bone densitometry standards.
Highlights of changes
Nuclear medicine
- Updates to education and training requirements for SPECT/CT hybrid technologists
- Revisions to physician supervision requirements
- Changes to acceptance testing and quality control requirements
- Additional revisions
Bone densitometry
- Updates to education and training requirements for bone densitometry technologists
- Expansion of protocol requirements
- Changes to precision assessment requirements
- Additional revisions
Additional standard revisions were made to the computed tomography, equipment and supplies, human resources, patient safety, echocardiography and ultrasound standards.
The revised standards (version 1.8) and accompanying revision record will be published on the website on April 28, 2023. Diagnostic imaging facilities will be assessed to the new standards starting January 1, 2024.
