Registrant directory
The registrant directory can be used to verify whether an individual is currently registered and licensed with the ºÚÁÏÉç of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia, and provides information on credentials and scope of practice. The data contained in the registrant directory is dynamic, pushed in real time from the ºÚÁÏÉç register.
The information is not to be used for any commercial, marketing or fundraising purposes.
What is public information in the registrant directory
The ºÚÁÏÉç is required by the Health Professions Act to make the following registrant information publicly available:
- full legal name
- registration status and practice type
- business address, phone number, fax number, where available
- practice conditions, if applicable
- regulatory actions, if applicable
Additional registrant information available on the directory:
- gender
- languages (in addition to English)
- qualifications
Note: If a registrant has been the subject of disciplinary action by the ºÚÁÏÉç since January 2000, this is noted on the registrant's profile. Inquiries regarding disciplinary action prior to that date should be directed to the ºÚÁÏÉç.
The registrant directory does not include:
- licence limits
- open complaints or investigations
- matters related to the health of the individual
- action taken by a registrant’s employer
- a registrant’s licensure status in other jurisdictions
- email address
Note: Registrants who are licensed for independent practice are required to renew their licence in January of each year.
The registrant directory for educational registrants includes:
- full legal name
- educational registration status
- gender
- regulatory actions, if applicable
The registrant directory for educational registrants does not include:
- business address
- telephone number
- email address
Note: Educational registrants do not have MSP billing numbers.
All postgraduates and medical students in BC training programs are registered with the ºÚÁÏÉç.
