Notification of Bylaw Amendments: Section 7-5
On February 28, 2020, the ºÚÁÏÉç Board approved an amendment to the Bylaws under the Health Professions Act, RSBC 1996, c.183, specifically, section 7-5.
The proposed amendment to section 7-5 allows the ºÚÁÏÉç to enforce a new requirement that all registrants practising in community settings (solo and group practice, clinics and private surgical and diagnostic facilities not affiliated with a health authority) must post a notice to patients in a visible area (waiting rooms, lobbies) indicating that the physicians and surgeons practising at this location are licensed and regulated by the ºÚÁÏÉç. The public notice must also include contact information for the ºÚÁÏÉç—website and phone number—should patients want to check their physician or surgeon’s credentials or find out more about the practice standards expected of ºÚÁÏÉç registrants by their regulatory body.
The bylaw amendments have been posted for a three-month notification period, giving ºÚÁÏÉç registrants and other interested parties the opportunity to review and comment.
