One year on: colleges report on progress in dismantling systemic racism

On May 11, 2021, the ºÚÁÏÉç, the British Columbia ºÚÁÏÉç of Nurses and Midwives, the ºÚÁÏÉç of Pharmacists of BC, and the ºÚÁÏÉç of Dental Surgeons of BC issued an apology to the Indigenous people and communities who have experienced racism while engaging with these health regulatory colleges and with the health professionals they regulate.

As part of this apology, the colleges made a commitment to take specific actions. We are pleased today to share the progress that has been made. We recognize that this is just the beginning of our journey, and that much work remains, and we thank the many people within our organizations and the broader health care system for their commitment and dedication to this work.

We recommit ourselves to dismantling the racism that was built into our colonial health-care system—racism that continues to cause harm to this day.
