The Ministry of Health has asked that the ºÚÁÏÉç advance a licensing and regulatory framework for appropriately qualified physician assistants to work under the delegation and supervision of physicians in emergency department settings in BC.

The ºÚÁÏÉç of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia held its 2023 Annual General Meeting virtually on September 22, 2023.

Over the last year, the ºÚÁÏÉç has continued to see an increased volume of questions from registrants related to its registration and licensing processes, especially regarding new classes and pathways to licensure. To provide an update and answer questions, the ºÚÁÏÉç hosted a webinar on Friday

On July 7, 2023, the ºÚÁÏÉç posted the proposed amended bylaws on its website giving registrants and other interested parties the opportunity to review and comment. The feedback received during the consultation period was constructive, leading to further changes and clarification, summarized below.

We are pleased to advise you that a review of the ºÚÁÏÉç’s formal complaints process has been completed.

On June 24, 2023, the ºÚÁÏÉç Board approved proposed amendments to the Bylaws under the Health Professions Act, RSBC 1996, c. 183 (HPA) specifically, the below sections related to registration.

ºÚÁÏÉç registrar and CEO, Dr. Heidi M. Oetter, has announced her retirement at the end of this year. The Board is pleased to announce her successor, Dr. Patrick David Rowe.

The ºÚÁÏÉç is pleased to announce that the 2022/23 Annual Report, audited financial statements and committee reports have been published.

The ºÚÁÏÉç’s Virtual Care and Sale and Dispensing of Drugs practice standards were revised to update and strengthen the language regarding PharmaNet requirements.
