The ºÚÁÏÉç is pleased to announce the launch of four additional online courses for registrants: Consent to Treatment, Safe Prescribing of Opioids and Sedatives, Navigating Psychoactive Prescribing, and Medical Record Keeping 201.

The ºÚÁÏÉç’s online courses, which also include Virtual Care, Ending the Patient-registrant Relationship, Leaving Practice, and Medical Record Keeping 101, are intended to allow for better reach to registrants across the province and more flexibility in course content.

Consent to Treatment

Consent to Treatment outlines the ºÚÁÏÉç’s expectations for obtaining informed consent and holding consent discussions with patients through an equity and inclusion framework. It assists registrants in applying the practice standard through examples and case studies, addressing common questions and highlighting real-life examples heard during the standard development process.

Medical Record Keeping 201

Medical Record Keeping 201 focuses on the essentials of good medical records, including how to avoid common deficiencies, use a SOAP-like format, and maintain a cumulative patient profile (CPP).

Safe Prescribing of Opioids and Sedatives

Safe Prescribing of Opioids and Sedatives focuses on the ºÚÁÏÉç’s expectations as outlined in the practice standard when prescribing these higher-risk medications.

Navigating Psychoactive Prescribing

Navigating Psychoactive Prescribing explains how to lower the risks of prescribing psychoactive medications, manage the treatment of chronic pain and substance use disorder, and navigate difficult conversations.

Completing a course

To take a course on the ºÚÁÏÉç's online learning site, registrants are required to create an account by providing their name, email address, and setting a password, or sign in if an account has already been created. Note: For privacy reasons, the online learning platform is not integrated with CPSIDs or passwords for the ºÚÁÏÉç website.

Future course development

The ºÚÁÏÉç is planning to create additional courses for practice standards, particularly those commonly eliciting inquiries. New course offerings will be announced via email and in the ºÚÁÏÉç Connector.

Share your feedback

After completing a course, registrants will be asked to complete a brief survey, which will inform the development of future online courses.
